1. If I participate, will binary sounds own any part of my songs?
NO! Artists retain 100% of their masters and publishing. We don’t touch a thing.
2. Can I use and sell my songs on other sites?
Absolutely. This agreement is non-exclusive; which means you can do anything you want with your songs at any time. They’re yours… you should be able to.
3. How many songs am I required to upload onto the site?
You’re not. You can upload 1, 3, 10, 20. It’s completely up to you.
4. Am I committed to binary sounds for any certain amount of time?
No. You can cancel your account at any time.
5. Do I get paid anything?
YES! We pay you and promote your songs! For each one of your songs that is sold on a compilation download card, or downloaded from our catalog, we will pay you $.10. You’re getting paid while student promote your music for you.
6. When will I get paid?
That depends on what compilation, if any, your song is a part of. We will provide you with monthly accounting statement detailing what cards your song is on, how many the students have sold, and total amount of royalties due to you.
7. How will I get paid?
15 days after each accounting period we’ll send any money due via PayPal.
8. If I write a great new song will you consider it for future compilations?
Of course! Upload your songs and we’ll send it out to our student A&R teams for consideration.
9. Am I guaranteed that you’ll use my songs on a compilation?
Sorry, but no. That’s entirely up to the students who make and distribute the compilation cards. But if your song is great, chances are someone will want it!
10. What else do I need to know?
This agreement allows us to use your artist name, songs, and the images you provide us to help promote you and similar independent artists through our website, compilation download cards, promotional materials, press, and any other opportunities that help draw attention to unsigned artists who deserve the attention.
